When using konsole, the output is often delayed for up to a few seconds. This is seen both when running a chatty app like a continuous ping or when typing commands into the shell. Type ahead is recorded correctly and eventually echos correctly. In the ping test, after a period of no output, all the pings are echoed to the screen with normal ping times, ie there is no network hangup. A similar ping test run from xterm shows no output hangup. While the ping output is hung up typing into kate is still echoes to the screen. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start a KDE session 2. Open konsole and run continuous ping to nearby host 3. Actual Results: Every few minutes the ping output stops for up to a few seconds and is then displayed normally with normal ping times. Expected Results: Output from ping is echoed regularly with every ping. The screen output hangups are very noticable in everyday work just typing into the shell in konsole.
I do have some strace output from a konsole running a regular ping test, covering the period before during and after one of these hangups.
This seems to have been fixed by some system update in Fedora 22.
