I have been using kdepim kontact management for quite a while, both for private and business contacts. My oldest entries are ten years and more. In the preview on the right side the selected contact appears like "Mrs. Fu Bar Manager" followed by the rest of the data. The second line is obviously the data of the field "title" (ger. "Titel"). In some existing contacts, obviously very old ones, the field entry is empty although something is displayed in the preview. This is annoying when you duplicate a contact e. g. as a template for a new person in the same company. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Pick an existing contact which appears in the preview like "Mrs. Fu Bar Manager etc." 2. Select "edit contact" 3. Select the tab with profession and title (in German it's "Geschäftlich") Actual Results: The content of the field title is empty. Expected Results: The field title should contain "Manager". If I put some text into the field "title" the content of the second line in the preview is overwritten. If I remove the content afterwards, the initial text is restored. A blank does not overwrite the initial text, but a "-" or a "." does. Version 4.14.9, rpm from opensuse update repository. Plattform OpenSuSE 13.2 As you see, there is a workaround, but it should be fixed, though.
could you provide screenshot about bugs ? Thanks
Created attachment 93751 [details] kaddressbook main view The entry mentioned is marked red.
Created attachment 93752 [details] Dialog edit contact The edit contact dialog. The entry in title is empty (marked red).
Created attachment 93753 [details] Dialog "edit contact" with modified filed "title" The same dialog after editing the field "title". The second line in the right preview panel is adjusted, as you can see. After clearing the field "title" the initial content is restored (as in the first screen shot.
This bug has never been confirmed for a KDE PIM version that is based on KDE Frameworks (5.x). Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the oportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it. Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.1 aka 15.12; preferably much more recent), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
