Description stefan.schwarzer 2015-07-05 21:02:37 UTC
I encountered bizarre behavior using distributions lists.
OS is debian testing/unstable with kontact/kaddressbook/kmail at 4.14.2

I have a distribution list 'duplo' in my address book folder 'Privat' which I have been using for a while and which I broke by creating a new (unrelated) distribution list 'duplo-interessenten-juni'. This second list was created by the save list option in Tools when creating a new mail message to multiple recipients (here listed all but two in the BCC field). By 'broke' I mean
that when I specify 'duplo' in the 'To' field of a new messages the message gets sent to the list members of 'duplo-interessenten-juni' instead - I can see this in the header of the 'sent' mail (and originally learned it by seeing some bounces from addresses only in the wrong list).
However, checking the lists in kontact/addressbook shows the intended, correct addresses
being associated with both lists. This happened twice on selection of the 'duplo' group before
I realized that some component of the mail system is responsible and not me picking the wrong name. Both lists existed for several days unused before I discovered the problem.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
I cannot reproduce because I get hit by another bug. I have tried:
1. create a list named 'a' in my address book, existing folder 'Private'
2. open a message, type an address, save as 'a-b' using Tools/save list
3. restart kontact
Both a and a-b are then correctly entered in the address book folder.
However, both sending to 'a' or 'a-b' fail with the message : 'a@nbof08'
The email address you entered is not valid because it does not contain a '.'. You will not create valid messages if you do not change your address. A.f.a.i.k this latter behavior is a known issue.

forgot - there was no reasonable entry for 'version' in the bug report form, relevant may be
I run debian testing with some packages fro unstable. In this case kde.

baloo4 4.14.2-1.1
libqt4-sql-sqlite 4:4.8.7+dfsg-1
kontact 4.14.2-2
kmail 4.14.2-2
kaddressbook 4.14.2-2

In fact, the behavior is reproducible.
The prescription in the bug report works, but probably a run of the indexer (baloo) is required.
About 24 hours after the creation of the groups, mail to 'a' gets sent to the adress registered for 'a-b' (reproducibly).

This bug has never been confirmed for a Kontact version that is based on KDE Frameworks (5.x). Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the oportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it.

Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.1 aka 15.12; preferably much more recent), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
