Description marklove93 2015-06-25 04:57:22 UTC
I tried to download highlighting files for Markup/HTML within kate configuration 'File Opening and Saving' > 'Modes & Filetypes'. After clicking that button nothing happened and Kate froze not allowing me to click ok or cancel for the config window. I waited for more than 15 minutes and there was no network activity. Had to terminate Kate.

I am assuming it failed to download the list of highlighters and didn't time-out the connection attempts possibly due to proxy settings.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to 'Settings' > 'Configure Kate...' > 'Editor Component' > 'Open/Save' > 'Modes & Filetypes'
2. Select Filetype: 'Markup/HTML'
3. Click 'Download Highlighting Files...'

Actual Results:
Kate freezes.

Expected Results:
Kate should return control if there are problems downloading.

I am behind a proxy but have set system proxy settings as well as environment settings.

Issue has been fixed in the latest kubuntu backports ppa. However there should still be an error message if network connection is blocked rather then freeze/hang that was experienced.

For me there is no freeze and I just can cancel the download dialog that is shown even if I have no internet connection. See no need to do there more work on that small dialog.
