Hi, the site https://docs.kde.org/stable4/en/kdeedu/ktouch/getting_started.html#creating_profile talk about a "Choose Keyboard Layout submenu" in settings, but I didn't have this submenu. I need it to switch to Bepo. Reproducible: Always
The submenu in question was renamed to "Configure Keyboard...", is this what you are looking for?
hi, thanks for your answer. I've 3 submenu, -courses and keyboard layout monitor -configure typewriting trainer -configure shortcuts but nothing that permits me to switch to Bepo-dvorak keyboard and courses. I only can work in my first keyboard Azerty. Maybe I miss something ? Please provide more infos about your distribution and version of kde.
If you are running KTouch on top of Linux/X11 it queries the operating system for the currently used keyboard layout and offers coursers for this layout. If you wan't to train on different than your current layout, please make sure to switch to this layout in the first place, for example with the dialog behind "Configure Keyboard...". Due the technical complexities involved in switching keyboard layouts on Linux/X11 KTouch can't do this step for you. I'm closing this bug report, as I'm thinking there is no actual bug here. So far you're describing the intended behavior. If you're still believing there is a problem, feel free to reopen the ticket.

The bug reporter has no menu item "Configure Keyboard...", that is the problem why he is not able to open the dialog

Hi, I'm sorry, i can't found this submenu "configure keyboard" on ktouch. I Work on Mint 17 Cinnamon 64. Maybe is it the reason of my problem ? I tried to switch in my second layout (bepo) before to start Ktouch, but it makes no change in Ktouch.
"Configure Keyboard" is only available for KDE users and not for Cinnamon. Activating the layout before KTouch is started or even during the program is running should trigger an update in the course list. From the information you have supplied I can't give you anymore advice. Try submitting screenshots and provide the complete names of your keyboard layouts. KTouch has no support for 'bepo', only French Dvorak, which I guess you might using.
Created attachment 93643 [details] ktouch lessons screenshot Hi, thanks for the time you spent for me, I'm sorry Ktouch don't work on Cinamon. I can't do screenshots of the menus. I can just send you this screenshot of Ktouch with the bad lessons (French Azerty instead of French Bépo (Dvorak inspired)).

Finally I start to understand the problem you are experiencing. The thing is, KTouch has (so far) no support for the French "Bepo" layout. As a fallback, is uses the common French keyboard layout, which doesn't fit at all, of course. You can help your self, if you want. New keyboard layouts and courses can be created with the built-in editor, see https://docs.kde.org/stable4/en/kdeedu/ktouch/extending.html for more information. Without these KTouch is pretty useless to you, I'm afraid.
Hmm, I've checked again, KTouch has actually data for the French "Bepo" layout, I can train with it without any problems. Must be a distribution thing, after all. Sorry that I can't help you.
Created attachment 103195 [details] config menu & help The configuration menu lacks 3 items: General Options, Keyboard Layout and Sounds.
hi all, Bépo is here all right but I only have two choice in the configuration menu: Colours and Training, no keyboard layout, no sound, no general setup where they should be as we can see on the picture of the help page. I'm on Gentoo with bépo set for the whole system running KDE/Plasma and Ktouch is stuck in azerty. Same thing happened on ubuntu. I tried on Mageia, same but at least the layout and the lessons are set OK.

(In reply to Burkhard Lueck from comment #15) > These items are no longer in the gui, see: > https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/kdeedu/ktouch/training_preparation.html Ok, so I re-check the Typewriting Trainer menu, I see 'Full Screen Mode', 'Course and Keyboard Editor', 'Configure Typewriting Trainer', 'Configure Shortcuts' and 'Help' but no 'Configure Keyboard', at least on my Gentoo; this entry is present on Mageia and I can select my TypeMatrix. I had to edit manually the bépo lessons to make them available althrough they are already in Ktouch.
