Description magnamara69 2015-06-21 23:21:36 UTC
Some suggestions for actions i use frequently:

1)Add the option to "merge selected layers" instead of "merge with layer below" when right clicking the layer stack with more than one layer selected;the current workaround for this is dumping all the layers onto a layer group and flattening it, but it takes a while to move layers to a group.

2)Add a "new from visible" functionality or shortcut that produces a new layer based on scope, the current workaround is (CtrlA + CtrlShiftC + CtrlV), but that produces only a layer from global scope(what one is currently seeing on canvas), if i need the output from a layer group, i need to duplicate said group and flatten it or turn off everything else and use the previously mentioned workaround, which is not feasible if the groups are very expensive to render.

3)Allow the drag and drop of layers between open documents, it would be very useful for modular editing and managing complexity.

4)Add the option to move layers/groups in a "preview" mode when using the move layer tool, similar to what happens before using transform tool.

Reproducible: Always

(1) Merging selected layers instead of only having the opton to "merge with layer below" would be very useful, would eliminate having to drag duplicated layers around.

(2) I was just looking for how to make a "New layer from visible", which is how I found this bug report. This is something I use all the time in GIMP.

(3) I was just about to to search the internet to find the way to drag and drop layers between documents. I take it this actually isn't an option?

(4) I'm not sure what the fourth item is about, but I also haven't ever used the transform tool. Given the usefulness of 1, 2, and 3, I bet 4 is also pretty useful!
