Description gibbz1 2015-06-12 11:26:17 UTC
As im working a lot with textures, some tweaks here would make life a lot better. So this is a suggestion for quality of life.

1. When opening the dialog, it would be great if it defaulted to the same directory as the existing file is located in. Not the last used folder. How many times this has caused me to overwrite the wrong file.

2. Apply the name of the current krita file into the name field. Having to type this out every time you export is a hastle.

3. Remember the last used format (eg PNG) as im using only png, then it would be always setup for me to use. Brilliant! :)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. n/a
2.
3.

Would be aweeeeessome!!

This bothers me too. Especially when there are several files open at once!
My platform is Windows 7 64-bit
Comment 2 Igor S. 2015-12-08 20:33:21 UTC
Forgot to say that the version I'm using is 2.9.9 git 22f7b3b
Comment 3 Halla Rempt 2016-01-24 15:44:38 UTC
This really needs work -- all those platform specific file dialogs _suck_. I'm not even sure I can set these things through Qt on the Windows file dialog.

WISHGROUP: Larger Usability Fixes
Comment 4 Igor S. 2016-01-24 16:33:22 UTC
The directory can be set by QFileDialog::setDirectory().
For files and filters I believe there are QFileDialog::selectFile() and QFileDialog::selectNameFilter(). At least in Qt4.

Can you please check the behaviour now? I think both 2. and 3. are implemented now, I'm not sure about 1. but it's more disputable than others anyway.
Comment 6 Tiar 2020-12-10 23:09:53 UTC
Without new information/confirmation etc., this wish will be closed. @Igor S, @gibbz1@yahoo.com, if you're still interested, please check the current behaviour. (If not, it's fine too (it has been a long time...), the wish will be closed).
