KWrite and Kate have the same configuration but these are two different programs. On KDE3 and KDE4 these programs have different configuration files. It is very useful, because Kate is for coding, but kwrite is like extended notepad, so e.g. Kate removes white spaces at the end of lines but KWrite does not. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Kate. 2. Change settings (e.g. removing white spaces or indentation settings). Actual Results: 1. Open KWrite. 2. Settings in KWrite also changed. Expected Results: 1. Open KWrite. 2. Settings in KWrite are not changed (settings in KWrite and Kate are different). Kate and KWrite 5.0
