This is a wish bug for extending the color patch showing the previous color and current color that show up while color picking to other tools like gradient tool.

While discussing on IRC animtim told that this feature is only for painting tools and is not there for other tools like gradient tool.
extending this feature will be great and will maintain a consistency.
