Description Hugh Tebby 2015-06-07 19:28:48 UTC
Using latest dev version, built from git.

I haven't found a way to reproduce this issue reliably, but it occurs regularly. I'll try to describe what exactly the issue is.

After inserting a clip in the timeline (and using proxy clips, which I always do) and changing the crop start and end values (dragging the clip, not using the popup box), everything works fine, but after some time, maybe after saving and reloading the project, I'll find that the crop start value has been reset to 0.

And in the .kdenlive file most clips have in="0".

But it actually looks OK at first sight, because it is the correct part of the clip which is played (even though the thumbnails actually show the correct frames...). If I deactivate proxy for a clip, then the updated clip in the timeline will show the clip starting at 0. And if I reactivate proxy it stays that way.

Also, if a modify in in/out of a clip in the timeline the proxy will only play what was previously shown, the displayed picture just freezes when entering a new part of the clip. If a deactivate proxy clips it goes back to normal.

This bug has just made me lose several hours of work because all the in points of the inserted clips are set to 0.

It happened to me previously, but on smaller projects. It actually makes Kdenlive unusable for HD projects...

I've tried to reproduce the issue, but it just seems to happen after some time, or after some amount of tinkering with clip in the timeline...

Reproducible: Sometimes

Hi,

Which git branch are you using ?
I cannot reproduce in a simple test with current master. Also, you might know it but Kdenlive automatically keeps backup of project files in case of project corruption. You can open previous versions from the "Project" menu > "Open Backup File".. Might help you to recover some of your stuff if you saved the project from time to time. If you can figure out a way to reproduce, please let us know... I will make some tests on my side.

Hi,

I'm currently using the master branch, but the same thing happened (at least I think it was the same issue) with version 0.9.x many months ago.

I always save often to new files, in case there is a problem. And if I look at older versions some clips will have a correct start but in the next version it's back to 0.

I tried using some of the same clips in a new project to reproduce, but no luck for the moment...

could this have to do with effect presets? i am having a similar issue where i set a value to a number and after reload it gets reset to 0.

I'm not using any effects, and have no presets... I'm still trying to reproduce it reliably, but each time I manage to get the issue I can't pin it down to a specific action or series of actions...

I can confirm this, as I recently had this problem in a project with many clips. I will try to reproduce in a smaller project.

Hugh, Bjorn, can you please try with a stable Kdenlive 16.04.2 to see whether your problem has been fixed or not? If the bug is fixed then I would like to ask you to close this report as RESOLVED. Thank you very much for your cooperation!
