Description walmartshopper 2015-06-03 20:58:13 UTC
Trying to play an animated title clip crashes kdenlive. The title clip can be created and edited successfully and added to the timeline. It also renders properly. But attempting to play it back in the clip or project monitor instantly crashes kdenlive.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a title clip and enter some text
2. Go to the Animation tab and edit the start and end position to make the text "slide"
3. Add the title clip to timeline and play, or play the title clip in clip monitor

Actual Results:
kdenlive crashes

Expected Results:
doesn't crash

Version 15.0.4.2

Hi I've a similar bug:
To reproduce it:
1) create and empty file with only a title
2) add animation to the title so it can scroll.
3) playback the scrolling title adding it to the timeline and pressing play
4) wait until it goes to the end
5) double-click on the title to try to reedit it. Here it crashes...

I attach a dbg file.
Thanks Gianluca

I can confirm the bug, it is also present in the master branch. However I still don't understand the exact problem, it probably lies in threading issues or in MLT/Qt compatibility issues. I will investigate when I can but this will probably take some time, sorry. As a workaround you can use an affine transition on the title clip...

Gianluca, as there have been fixes to the title producer some time ago, can you please try with a stable Kdenlive 16.04.2 to see whether your problem has been fixed or not? If the big is fixed then I would like to ask you to close this report as RESOLVED. Thank you very much for your cooperation!
