I tested and compared PaintStorm studio, Clip Studio Paint brushes to Krita's smearing brushes, and it seems that one advantage those programs have is Wash Mode for blurry brushes. See below for comparison what is problmatic now, and how it works in Paintstorm Studio. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Use Block_wet_tilt brush. Right now it gives results like this: Actual Results: http://wstaw.org/m/2015/05/26/KritaLab.jpeg Stroke has quite a bit variation in brightness. As expected from brush with 'build up' option, you can notice increase in color opacity in places where brush stroke overlaps with previous brush dabs. It is impossible to get nice, steady increase in brush opacity with steady value change. Expected Results: And if we had 'wash mode' for 'color smudge' brushes, with high 'flow' value we could get something like this (example from Paintstorm Studio) http://wstaw.org/m/2015/05/26/PS_Studio.png You can see stroke has less variation in brightness, and is increasing in opacity steadily See discusion about this topic with TheraHedwig on krita's forum https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=276&t=126575#p335540
Wash mode for smudging brushes probably is going to be tricky -- but let's see.
