Description Ancoron 2015-05-25 13:52:42 UTC
Although kate does correctly restore the last used open documents when closing kate and restarting it inside the same login session, when kate is started as part of the application restore after login, it always starts with no documents open.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start kate
2. open "Settings" >> "Configure Kate..."
3. switch to "Application" >> "Sessions"
4. activate option "Load last used session" inside "Behaviour on Application Startup"
5. click "OK" to save the settings and close the configuration window
6. open some text file
7. click on "Sessions" >> "Save Session"
8. go to "System Settings" >> "Startup and Shutdown" >> "Desktop Session"
9. make sure that "Restore previous session" is activated inside "On Login"
10. logout
11. login again

Actual Results:
Kate is started without any documents or session

Expected Results:
Kate is started with the last used session

It might be that in this case, the following global setting prevents the expected behavior:

in "System Settings" >> "Desktop Behavior" >> "Activities" I have activated "Do not remember" for "Remember opened documents" under "Privacy".

However, as I see at least Okular and Dolphin restore last-opened documents and or directory positions and tabs, I doubt that this "privacy" option actually does anything.

I am suffering from this issue too (Ubuntu 15.04), always reproductible.

For my part, "For all applications" is checked in "System Settings" >> "Desktop Behavior" >> "Activities".
