In KDE5,trying to extend a "rectangular selection" in ksnapshot causes the screen to turn black and many rectangular artifacts to appear and be recorded in the snapshot. When reducing the rectangle it is a bit more usable, however, the frame, handles and capture size are recorded as well. I can confirm the reported behavior with ksnapshot-15.04.0 (fedora 22, x86_64)
I confirm the issue with: Kubuntu 16.04 (xenial) plus KDE backports (plasma 5.8.4) and latest intel driver and mesa from git (from ubuntu oibaf PPA), on intel haswell graphics. Issue goes away by disabling compositor.
Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years and I will be closing this bug. Spectacle is the replacement for ksnapshot now. Please test again and file a new bug for Spectacle if you still have issues. Thank you!
