1) define custom icon of a folder. The icon location is somewhere in you $HOME 2) transfer like for like the custom folder and the icon onto another machine (keep path exactly the same, if icon is in $HOME/kimjongil/pic1.png on machine 1 then put it in $HOME/kimjongil/pic1.png on machine2 The folder in dolphin is displayed with a blank icon (everything white) 3)on machine two define another icon for the folder: it works 4)on machine two re-define the previous icon for the folder: it still won't work.. weird. clear $HOME/.thumbnails do not help Reproducible: Always content of .directory file of a folder where it does not show up max@max-VirtualBox:~/Documents/Outils$ more .directory [Desktop Entry] Icon=/home/max/Pictures/icone/Png/Tools.png and yes, the file exist: max@max-VirtualBox:~/Documents/Outils$ ls /home/max/Pictures/icone/Png/Tools.png /home/max/Pictures/icone/Png/Tools.png look at http://6g6.eu/sih0-gt1985.png to see the folder "Outils" not working
Thanks for the bug report. Does the user on the other machine have read permissions for the custom folder icon? Can you open it with, e.g., Gwenview from the command line?
Yes I have read permissions, and it is possible to open it. What is weird some folder icons are properly displayed some not. I can't find a logic . eg. in my home directory I have those: drwx------ 30 max max 4096 Mai 14 14:23 Documents/ drwx------ 13 max max 4096 Apr 25 14:06 Pictures/ drwxr-xr-x 8 max max 4096 Mai 15 19:05 Videos/ Documents does not work, while Pictures and Videos do
Do the custom icons for these directories work in the "open file" dialog of, e.g., KWrite, or in FolderView?
If i do kate then open file, in the open file dialog I see at first only blue icon folders for all If I click the preview button I will see icon except for folders who have pictures inside, for which I see thumbnails of pictures. If I unclick preview, I finally see all custom icon for all folder. That does not produce a change in dolphin Doing the same in dolphin will not help : If i click the preview button, I will see icon or thumbnails. If I then unclikc preview I will go bank to blan icon

I'll set this issue to CONFIRMED for now, but it'd be great if you could shortly check if this problem persists with newer versions of Dolphin. Thanks!
