Description Petr Lautrbach 2015-05-12 06:35:05 UTC
When I change a monitor using kscreen, all konsole5' move to the current desktop. With konsole-4, they used to stay desktops where they had been before the monitor change

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. setup 4 desktops
2. open konsole5 on each desktop
3. attach another monitor and switch primary screen to it

Actual Results:
all konsoles are moved to the current desktop

Expected Results:
Each konsole is on its own desktop

I came across this similar problem, too.

When connected to an external monitor, each time turning off the external monitor and closing the laptop lid and then reopen the lid, konsole windows are moved to current virtual desktop. This happens only to konsole windows, other application windows have no problem remembering their virtual desktops.

My system information:
konsole5-15.04.0-1.fc22.x86_64
kwin-5.3.1-2.fc22.x86_64

It happens also to konversation and probably other applications ported to kde5

Hi!

I can confirm the same behaviour on my system (up to workspace 5.3.2, konsole 15.04.3, frameworks 5.12): sometimes konsole windows move to the current virtual desktop, even across activity borders.

Except that sometimes the konsole windows completely disappear. They can reappear at a later monitor configuration change, but I have not figured out a pattern up to now.

As I am changing monitor configurations at least twice a day, I see a lot of konsole moves and disappearances. They do not happen always: There are chances the system picks one of
(1) all windows stay where they are, (2) they move to the current virtual desktop, and (3) they vanish.

In my configuration the primary display changes too.

I do not know how far other applications are concerned. The konsole sessions are almost always open. But the current Yakuake development version is concerned, too.

What Information can I provide to help debugging this?

All the best,

Jan

I have also observed this behavior. As someone with perhaps a dozen konsole windows scattered over as many workspaces this is a rather major inconvenience.
Comment 5 Justin Zobel 2020-10-23 00:29:50 UTC
Can you please confirm this is still an issue on current Plasma/kwin/Konsole versions.
Comment 6 Petr Lautrbach 2020-10-23 11:29:44 UTC
I can't, sorry. I don't use KDE anymore and it's not reproducible using swaywm + konsole.
Comment 7 Justin Zobel 2020-10-23 11:56:59 UTC
I will resolve this bug then. If the issue is present for any other users on current versions please reopen.
