Description Stefan Becker 2015-05-02 11:27:37 UTC
This is the same problem as with KDE4 bug #152761 - konsole5 doesn't have any session management.

This is / will be a show stopper for many KDE4 users (see the old bug)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open multiple konsole windows and tabs
2. make sure that Plasma5 is set to "restore previous session"
3. log out
4. log in

Actual Results:
One konsole window with one tab in $HOME directory with default tab text

Expected Results:
All konsole windows, tabs, tab names and directories restored. Just like in KDE4.

Fedora 22 Beta with KDE Plasma 5.3.0

I can confirm this bug. Konsole 15.04.0 (upgrade to Ubuntu Vivid) just forgets all its tabs -> necessity to open all of them after each logout (or reboot). This is *extremely* annoying on a development system (with many open tabs) that sometimes needs to be rebooted, so I now need to downgrade my system again.

The problem is also reproduceable with a new user (i.e. a completely new KDE configuration): after logging in again, Konsole just opens one window with a shell in the home directory. All other windows and tabs, window position, directories, etc. are forgotten.

Just to confirm: F22 updated to kf5 5.10.0 and pulled the session management fixes in:

* kf5-kconfig-gui-5.10.0-3.fc22.x86_64
* kf5-kxmlgui-5.10.0-2.fc22.x86_64

KF5 based applications, like konsole or kwrite, now dump their session information to disk on "Save Session" or "Restore previous session", and the windows & tabs are restored after login.

Bug still there.  :(

Clean Fedora 22 install, updated, konsole5-15.04.3-1.fc22.x86_64, Konsole windows that should be in different desktops come up all, together, in just one of them.

Tabs are OK for the konsole windows, they just seem not to be bound to the desktop they were in.

Thank you.

I confirm that this bug still persists in Kubuntu 15.10, with updated from KDE backports (kf5 5.15.0-0ubuntu1).

I have multiple konsole windows on 4 desktops. On login they all appear on the active desktop. The tabs in each konsole wndow are correctly retained, but the desktop or window size is not.

The bug keeps on existing in 5.15 and it has been this way as long since I switched to KDE 5 on both of my computers (both running Kubuntu). Not just Konsole, also Kate and Dolphin reset to a single open tab with home directory open. No exceptions, reproducible every time I restart.
