Closing due to lack of feedback. Feel free to leave a comment here if you can answer my question from comment 1. It would also be interesting to know if the same problem occurs if you drag a file from Dolphin and drop it on the FolderView widget on the desktop.
Dolphin Version 15.04.0 Using KDE Development Platform 4.14.6 Version command seems to be broken in plasma: $ plasmashell --version Unknown option 'version'. The dolphin dialogue: move here, copy here, link here, cancel comes up when trying to move from dolphin window to desktop regardless of whether I shift drag or not.
Thanks. It's a bit difficult to guess where the problem is. Drag&drop and modifiers are mostly handled by the lib/konq library and by Qt itself, so the bug is most likely not in the Dolphin application. Unless someone who can reproduce this problem and builds from source is willing to analyze this, it's unlikely though that the cause of the bug is found before it probably disappears automatically when users upgrade to a KF5-based Dolphin.
