When sending a message without disclosing other recipients it is useful to set the To field as yourself, then BCC the list. Click on Select in next field and browse to find a group. Select group and 'Add as BCC' (or To or CC). The group name is inserted in the field, but you cannot send the message. Open it again from the Outbox (same if you save a draft and open that). The BCC (To or CC) field now has the address in the form groupname@computername which is obviously invalid. Alternatively, you can go straight to Contacts, find the group right-click and choose Send an Email. This puts all the contacts in separate To fields. To change every one in a long list to BCC manually is not optimal. Resembles https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333426 except I find it not fixed in a later version.
so never group is extented ? It's not extended when you put as To or CC or BCC ?

The question is : do you have this bug when you add to CC/TO/BCC ? or it just doesn't work for BCC ?
Created attachment 92141 [details] attachment-21527-0.html It's the same for all. But in practice BCC and CC are the most annoying because you can use a different method for To.
Ok so it's a general problem for you. Baloo works for you ?

Any news on this? On 21/04/15 13:26, Laurent Montel wrote: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346390 > > --- Comment #5 from Laurent Montel <montel@kde.org> --- > Ok so it's a general problem for you. > Baloo works for you ? >
Here it works fine so for the moment no idea.
Well if you tell me step by step how to set up a group mailing list then send a message inserting that list in the BCC field I'll follow exactly and send you screenshots of each stage. Meanwhile I have another nightmare, I did distro upgrade Kubuntu 14.10 to 15.04 on one of my machines and Kontact wouldn't connect to Akonadi. After a couple of attempts Plasma crashed and cannot be restarted. I'm using LXDE on that machine with Thunderbird, but daren't upgrade the other. I'll file that bug with Kubuntu... -- Phil On 30/04/15 17:59, Laurent Montel wrote: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346390 > > --- Comment #8 from Laurent Montel <montel@kde.org> --- > Here it works fine so for the moment no idea. >
Just installed Kubuntu 15.04 using Plasma on a different machine. Fresh install, not upgrade. KDE 4.14.6 and I have exactly the same issue. RECAP: I have a mailing list called LCC&T. I open a new message and start typing 'lcc...' the autocomplete correctly identifies the group name. I click and LCC&T is inserted in the To (or CC or BCC) field. Save as draft and then reopen it. To field now displays LCC&T@[name of computer] Needless to say it won't send. ALTERNATIVELY I open Address book and search for the group Right click and choose 'Send an Email' The To: field is correctly populated. However it is bad practice to use To: for mailing lists some contacts wish to remain hidden from others, there is no easy way to use this technique to put the list in BCC, I have to edit each name in the email header. Can't believe no-one else has found this.
I can confirm this buggy behaviour on KMail Version 5.1.3.
Since posting this bug I have switched to Mint 17.3 (KDE version) which uses KMail 4.14.2. Same problem. Would seem to be a long-standing issue.
