Description Christian Kalkhoff 2015-04-08 19:05:28 UTC
Since I discovered kmail has an archive feature (which made me move from Thunderbird) I was not able to bind a keyboard shortcut to the "archive mail" function so it lasted longer than one usage.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Keyboard Shortcurts and select "archive mail"
2. Assign some (doesn't matter which) shortcut
3. Use the shortcut to archive some mail
4. Use it again to another Mail

Actual Results:
In step 4 the mail is not archived. The shortcut is no longer bound to the function in the settings.

Expected Results:
The keyboard shortcut works more than once.

As it turns out, after kmail2 crashed the key binding now works as expected. Now the toolbar icon I added is gone. Some strange things are going on here.

So is it work or not ?

It works after a crash of kmail and restart. But it still does't work more than once after setting the key binding.

In older versions it didn't even work after a regular restart. I was only able to reassign the keybinding again, use it once and than it was gone again.

Since this is a keyboard shortcut issue, I am adding my own custom shortcut problem here as well.
I have assigned the "Right" and "Left" key to Next and Previous message respectively.

For some odd reason, The shortcut for "Focus on Next Message" is not the default Alt+Right, but is Right. This conflicts with my custom key for "Next Message".

After changing "Focus on Next Message" to the default Alt+Right, the Right key works once to move to the next message, but on the second tap is suddenly reassigned to "Focus on Next Message again"

Steps to reproduce:

1. Reassign shortcut for "Focus on Next Message" to default Alt+Right
2. Assign shortcut for "Next Message" to Right.
3. Press Right.

Expected:

The next email message should be selected.

Instead:

1. The next message is selected.
2. The custom shortcut fails and is reassigned to "Focus on Next Message".

The bug seems to have been fixed in current versions. So I am closing it.
