Description Christo 2015-04-04 04:28:51 UTC
ich switched to klots and dont use classic knotes anymore .. please add it to the kontact-configf so it would be able to diable "knotes" completly in the sidebar

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open kontact preferenses
2. look for option to disable the KNOTES in the left Sidebar
3. no option found for this

Actual Results:
no option

Expected Results:
disable option

Hm, I do have that option here with the standard packages in openSUSE 13.2 (Kontact 4.14.6).
There are checkboxes in front of every top-level item in the left sidebar in the Kontact settings, including knotes. If I untick the checkbox, knotes disappears from Kontact.

What version of Kontact are you using? (see Help->About Kontact)
You specified "GIT (master)", but then openSUSE RPMs. Are you really using "GIT (master)"? From which repo did you install the RPMs from?

i am really forced to that .. believe me , if i could i would

one screenshot shows the version-issue of the webui

second shows it all .. there is no option around.. but i remember it existed in recent versions .

actually its v4.14.6 on OS13.2

thanks for looking :)

I don't understand why you don't have it.
It's by default so it's a problem in your distro version.

But you are not using GIT (master), so you probably should have selected "unspecified" and tell the version in your report... ;)

Hm.
I have the same distribution, the same version, and (likely) the same packages. For me the option is there, see my attached screenshot.

Is it there when you try on a fresh user account?

I don't think that Kontact settings entry has any relation to Akonadi...

I could (there's nothing in there that would need "anonymising" anyway), but I don't see the point. I don't think anything in there would cause the knotes settings entry to disappear, it basically just contains the window geometry of the Kontact window and which plugins are enabled/disabled.
Does the entry appear if you remove/rename kontactrc?
And have you tried a fresh user account?

I can only reproduce your problem by removing the file /usr/share/kde4/apps/kontact/ksettingsdialog/knotes.setdlg, but it is there in the kontact package.

Btw, you should be able to hide KNotes by setting kontact_knotespluginEnabled=false in kontactrc (in the "[Plugins]" section).
And you could of course also get rid of KNotes in Kontact by uninstalling the package "knotes"...
