Description Pavel Nedrigailov 2015-04-02 07:16:12 UTC
I can't switch keyboard layout after suspend. Please tell me how I can provide you additional information so you can work with this bug.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in, check layout switching
2. Select to KDE menu - Leave - Sleep
3. After PC becomes asleep, wake it up
4. enter password to unlock screen
5. When all'be done, check layout switching in any app.

Actual Results:
Layout switching doesn't work. I use Caps Lock key to switch between layouts, but after suspend it works as usual Caps Lock, not as kb layout switcher.

Expected Results:
Keyboard layout switching behaviour should not be changed after suspending.

If I run keyboard settings and set additional kb layout switching combination, say, ctrl-shift, and press Apply, my Caps Lock will works then as a layout switching trigger too.

I have the same problem with KUbuntu (KDE 5.9.0).
The workaround mentioned above is also working for me.

I have a similar issue with a recent git checkout. The issue may be slightly different as the switcher seems to randomly stop working.

To me, entering the keyboard layout settings, enabling and disabling the "Show Layout Indicator" allows me to switch among the configured layouts again.

As additional comment, in my case I don't think the but is related with suspending the machine, I experienced this issue after using the computer for a while, it seems that it randomly disables the switching. It seems that this happens (more often but not always related) with plugging an additional keyboard to the laptop.

For me the same thing. Maybe there is a way to script s.th. like 'open keyboard settings, change anything and save it' to make this a little bit easier.?

Unfortunately I have to switch the layout quite often...

Plasma 5.4
openSuse Tumbleweed
Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard

The bug also happens when you plug out the keyboard and back in, or use a display where the keyboard is connected and switch of and on the display.

Layout switching works again if you change any setting in the layout settings and klick ok or apply.

The layout can still be changed with the kontext menu of the keyboard layout switcher. After some switches, it is again possible to switch it with a click on the layout switcher. What is still not possible is to switch with a key on the keyboard. For this to work again, you have to change a setting in the keyboard layout settings.

Of course it is annoying to switch the keyboard layout with the mouse.

After an update to plasma 5.5 on openSUSE Leap 42.1 the bug disappeared for me.
