Created attachment 91698 [details] emerge --info kscreensaver I have chosen the Clock screen saver, which does save the screen and it offers useful info at the same time. But, nearly always (well over 90%), once that saver has started, it's overlaid with the default desktop, which does neither. From emerge --info kscreensaver: ================================================================= Package Settings ================================================================= kde-base/kscreensaver-4.11.14::gentoo was built with the following: USE="(-aqua) -debug" ABI_X86="64"

is it KDE4? (support for X screensavers has been removed from Plasma5)
(In reply to Marco Martin from comment #2) > is it KDE4? (support for X screensavers has been removed from Plasma5) Yes, KDE4. Plasma 5 is not yet officially in the Gentoo tree. But my problem has disappeared since I found the right CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS, as I said. I think the bug report can be closed.
