Description Sandro 2015-03-16 21:51:49 UTC
On my updated kubuntu 14.04.2 system I noticed this event:
while in a "desktop folder" environment, after having created and linked a new folder to the Home directory by right-clicking on the desktop --> Link to URL and accessing files from that link, if I try to delete a file, that is moving it to the trash by right-clicking on the file name, the desktop environment (GUI) crashes after the deleting confirmation window, black screen for a second, and then come up again starting the bug report application. I tried to delete the file again twice and the same crash occurred. Note that a second "link to URL" to trash:/ was active on the desktop (in the desktop folder). The files were xcf Gimp files 16Mb from /$HOME/pictures. Yesterday while trying deleting a group of files from /$HOME/Music the system warned me about a trash full condition, but instead it was absolutely empty...! and the file size was quite small.
On the other hand, using Dolphin for the same operations no problem occurred.
Then I switched back to a "default desktop" environment, I put on the desktop the widgets "folder" and "trash-can", I performed again the same operations of file deleting after browsing among folders, by right-clicking on the file name, and no problem occurred. Thanks.

Reproducible: Always

This could be bug 331635, but to be sure, we need the backtrace of the crash. Please add it as a comment. For more information, please see https://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports

Hello! Plasma 4 was replaced by Plasma 5 four years ago by the KDE community. In that time we have made great strides in stability and functionality. We are closing all Plasma 4 bugs as most of them are no longer applicable to the new frameworks Plasma 5 is built upon. If you could, please re-test with the latest version of Plasma 5, and submit a new bug to "plasmashell" if you continue to have an issue. Thank you!
