Happens every now and then, no idea what causes it. I have Wacom Intuos4 and when I start the program, both ends of the pen are set to the last used brush (not saving the "other end" it seems), but that's just a little inconvenience. More problem is that when I'm painting (using regular pen tip) and I'm trying to use eraser (mapped to the "eraser" end of the pen)... the eraser becomes a brush and continues painting instead of erasing, even though in presets list it says I'm using eraser. It just uses the same preset I have on the regular tip. Turning the pen, so that the tablet "catches" the regular tip and then turning again to the eraser one doesn't help - the presets are mixed for good. Only choosing eraser preset again helps. A bit similar to this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333164 But only switches eraser to the tip and it's not constant. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Paint some picture. 2. Erase some of it and paint some more. 3. Repeat above and there may be a moment when instead of erasing u will be still painting.
Hi Kalia, Thanks for your report. I'm still trying to reproduce it, but I currently only have a Wacom Intuos 3 and a Cintiq Hybrid Companion, and neither seems to show the bug :-(
Now that I'm trying to get it, it doesn't show for me either (though when I'm working fast, it tends to occur). A bit of wild guess, but I think it happens mostly after switching from pen to non-tablet mouse and back (and doing it fast, in full-rush of work).
Nope, yet it happened just-like-that again, with no mouse-pen switching involved. Only quite a lot of erasing and quick and frequent changes between tip and eraser.
Do you also use the E key to enable erasing?
I may have this same issue with my Intuos Pen&Touch. (Arch Linux + KDE): I use the eraser end of the stylus a lot, and sometimes rarely it will have Eraser mode disabled and I have to either press E or click the "reset brush preset" button to fix it.
Oh sorry, I just noticed this is 2.9 bug. I have this issue with 3.0, not sure if it is the same or different.
In this case - no. It was an eraser preset mapped on eraser tip and brush preset mapped on pen tip. While working now - yes. I can't recall if there was any occurrence of this bug while using E, so it was most probably some issue with mapping/communication with tablet.
This should be fixed in 3.0, where Dmitry spent a lot of time getting the eraser mode switching correct.
