Description Helio Chissini de Castro 2015-02-24 12:57:32 UTC
If any on the entries specified on the default applications existe on machine, kde-open5 triggers a loop on respawn the call, making impossible to stop, unless you replace a proper application on defaults or in some cases inhibit the access to kde-open5 binary.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
On system settings applications default:
Change the browser app to anything non available
Call on terminal: kde-open5 "http://www.google.com"
Impossible to stop dialog without plcaing a proper browser binary on defaults.

Change the mail service for something unavailable
kde-open5 "mailto:somthing@kde.org"
kmailservice5 tries to respawn kde5-open when not found the proper mail application

Actual Results:
Qt is returning a strange message:

kioclient(18265)/(default) unknown: QCoreApplication::postEvent: Unexpected null receiver
Comment 1 Aleix Pol 2015-02-25 11:43:50 UTC
I cannot reproduce here, both cases opened the expected application.
Comment 2 Rex Dieter 2015-02-25 11:44:37 UTC
No, the badness happens when you set an application that doesn't exist.
Comment 3 Gilbert Assaf 2015-08-05 13:37:52 UTC
I cannot reproduce this on kubuntu 15.04. KIO throws an error message saying: "Could not find the program 'foobar'" and "The file or folder http://www.google.com/ does not exist". Afterwards kde-open5 exits as expected. Apparently this has been fixed.

Can't reproduce the bugs with the instructions provided here (it falls back to firefox and kmail) but https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354151 says one should uninstall kmail first....
