I believe "Horizontally" and "vertically" will be selected like they were when exiting Krita/first boot. (in my case, none of the checked.) but despite what the UI shows , when drawing on the canvas the tool behaves as if both "Horizontally" and "vertically" is selected. un-selecting/selecting them fixes the issue until next boot. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot Krita >new document 2. Pick the "Multi brush tool" 3. Go to "tool options" and change "symmetry" to "mirror" 4. Take note of the "Horizontally" and "vertically" settings (none of mine are checked) 5. Draw something. Actual Results: The behavior of the tool is as if both "Horizontally" and "vertically" is selected. Expected Results: in my case, just draw with one brush. Win 8.1 64-bit, 64-bit version of Krita
I can confirm this. Interestingly, when turning both off and on again, the options start working normally.

Is this still an issue? I am testing out Krita 3.0 and this might have been fixed. When Krita starts, the horizontal and vertical checkboxes are not selected. When I paint, there is no symmetry applied. Turning them on seems to work as well.

It's solved for me too using Krita 3.0 appimage on Ubuntu 14.04 Unity. I'm going to change the status of this report to "Fixed" since we're two confirming :)
