2.Look screen
3.Prompt you password and press enter
4. Minimize/maximize or move some window

Actual Results:
On Intel driver artifacts are displayed, when moving/restoring/minizmizing window/

Expected Results:
Every thing goes well.

Restartin kwin5_x11 makes problem gone.

Can you screenshot such artifacts? (and attach the screenshot ;-)
Comment 2 Lach Sławomir 2015-02-15 08:27:36 UTC
Sorry, but this artifacts are for some time(less than second), so I can't print screen in in good meanwhile. Additionaly screen I can't save video from recortMyDesktopQT - the content is encoded, but I don't know, where recordMyDesktop save output. I also click save on recordMyDesktop, but present file is not replaced.
Comment 3 Thomas Lübking 2015-02-15 14:55:57 UTC
recordmydesktop saves to out.ogv in the "working directory" which will be $HOME unless you started it from another path (eg. out of konsole: cd /tmp; recordMyDesktop)

You can also check whether your smartphone/camera produces usable results ;-)
Comment 4 Lach Sławomir 2015-02-15 15:23:05 UTC
I firstly use save option as ~/artifacts.ogv and next click record.

It saves the movie, but no artifacts are preset at the movie. Maybe have I trouble/matter with my graphics cart?
Comment 5 Lach Sławomir 2015-02-15 15:23:52 UTC
But that's rather kwin bug, because situation after restarting kwin is normal.

Hard to judge w/o seeing the actual artifacts.

please attach the output of
   qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation

and if you somehow can, a visual representation of the artifacts.

Thomas Lübking asks me to attach this file.
Comment 8 Lach Sławomir 2015-02-15 18:01:52 UTC
I have recorded movie by my mobile phone, which show the aritifacts, but actually I don't seen usb/mini usb cable and my laptop don't have bluetooth support, so I can't copy movie to my laptop.

Comment 10 Thomas Lübking 2015-02-15 19:23:35 UTC
I don't think ths is a problem with the hardware, but likely glsl.

Please try to deactivate the "wobbly windows" effect (run "kcmshell5 kwineffects") and see whether the issue remains.
Also, likely a restart of the compositor (Shift+Alt+F12 toggles it) will likely "fix" the problem,
Comment 11 Lach Sławomir 2015-02-16 08:29:52 UTC
Thanks. The problem disappears(moving window, restoring window, minimizing window).

But there are still some bad looking rendering errors, while selecting leave option from desktop's menu or from Kickoff menu.
Comment 12 Lach Sławomir 2015-02-16 08:33:09 UTC
And while switching desktop, there's then same problem, when restoring/minimizing windows.

Sadly, I reply too fast.
After looking screen, the problem came again.
Comment 13 Lach Sławomir 2015-02-16 09:33:11 UTC
Sorry for replying too often. Maybe should I check the error occurs on Waylnad too. But there's problem. When I'm tries to run kwin5_wayland it show message, that it cannot connects to display or there's X11 session on display/

That's correct. kwin_wayland still needs an XServer and another Wayland
server. The current state is only suited for nested development setups.

That would be the blur (I bet) of the logout effect.

And this the cubeslide effect?

Basically every non-trivial shader causes problems.

Can you please
a) try the egl backend (run "kcmshell5 kwincompositing" to change)
b) attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

My X.org's log file.
Comment 17 Lach Sławomir 2015-02-17 08:26:22 UTC
I have disable mentioned effects, so in some cases artifacts disappears. I must say, I had selected GLX OpenGL interface - not EGL.
Comment 18 Thomas Lübking 2015-02-21 22:38:34 UTC
Did you give egl a try?
Comment 19 Lach Sławomir 2015-05-06 15:02:59 UTC
Hi. I downgrade from Plasma 5 to KDE4, but now I coinstall Plasma 5.3 and KDE4. I'm using kwin 5.2.2. The artifacts appear once I had run QT4 application.
Comment 20 Alexander Mentyu 2018-04-10 17:22:22 UTC
Is it still reproducible?
Possibly related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368275
Comment 21 Lach Sławomir 2020-11-19 13:27:39 UTC
Hi.

I started thread when I had old laptop probably, but the problems didn't gone. I have newer laptop (some HP) now (since two years) and there's problems with intel GPU. My laptop have also dedicated GPU (AMD). I forgot I start this thread, but nowadays just looking at bugs.kde.org and saw this topic.

I will try to disable some effects, as you suggest. Previous laptop is still there (lenovo ideapad 100-15IBY), but other family member uses it currently and it was flooded by coffee, so I don't known the problem will appear on it or it could been tested (cause it was flooded :-( ). It works, but some additional errors could occur.
Comment 22 Lach Sławomir 2022-04-30 15:08:00 UTC
It looks there are no graphics glitches under wayland.
Comment 23 David Edmundson 2023-09-06 10:38:32 UTC
This bug was reported against an outdated version of KWin. We have made many changes since the.
If the issue persists in newer versions can you reopen the bug report updating the version number.

I think the problem disappear, but not sure. Firstly, the animation on window move to task bar gone, so I do can not reproduce.
Comment 25 Lach Sławomir 2023-11-24 17:32:07 UTC
PS: I have problem with select proper bug status. Fell free to select what you think is related. As I said, minimize to taskbar animation gone, but I enabled woobly windows and blur effects. Problem do not occur currently, but I am not sure if it is cause no animations,
