Description brusheco 2015-02-12 10:38:30 UTC
(Beta 3)

Difficult one to reproduce, it happens after a long session. If you just open krita and flatten a file with many layers, it will probably work, but if you've been working on a file with multiple layers for a while(lets say 15-20mins) and go to flatten it, (via the layer menu) it will crash.
i'm working with a 2500 x 3500 painting.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Actual Results:
Crash, resulting in angry and confused user.

Expected Results:
No crash, resulting in happy, moonwalking user.

Hi!

Which version are you using? I did fix a flatten bug for beta3, which is to be released today, but which you can already download from files.kde.org/krita/windows.

hey, i think you already know, but just confirming that I was using beta 3.

I've been able to reproduce this in mere minutes - it doesn't need to be a long session. It is intermittent though, and therefore hard to isolate. I've been getting an awful lot of crashes this way while making brush thumbnails.

Do you get a message box about something called merge stragegies when this crash happens?
Comment 5 brusheco 2015-06-22 20:32:15 UTC
Hi, no I don't remember getting that message box, it just crashed immediately.

crash backtrace

i just had a crash, i joined the backtrace .txt,
and the file (there's sketched nudity in there, in case you're at work)

https://cloud.devosi.org/public.php?service=files&t=c386f3e52609c1d60a648756b1e94dcb

That was a picture i started some hours ago, i saved and closed it, then reopened it, upscaled to 21cm wide, 300dpi (can't remember the pixel count), then tried to flatten. and the crash.

i hope it's useful

i must add that there was only one picture open, in one window mode, and i think, (but not sure), i flattened through the Layer menu and not by right-clicking in the layer docker. but i'm not sure. and i can't remember if there was a layer highlighted in blue. (i don't know if all this ignorance is useful, but just in case.)
Comment 8 Halla Rempt 2015-08-18 13:30:35 UTC
I cannot reproduce it with that image in any case, so something else must still be going on.
Comment 9 Halla Rempt 2015-11-04 07:47:56 UTC
Hm, and looking at the backtrace, there are no debug symbols, which makes reproducing harder. Dmitry has been doing some fixes in the node model code, too -- would it be possible to install the latest 2.9 and debug symbols and try to reproduce?
Comment 10 Halla Rempt 2016-03-19 14:08:41 UTC
This code no longer exists :-)
