Description John E 2015-01-29 09:26:58 UTC
It all worked fine a few hours ago in KDE4.
It also works fine in fluxbox so that makes me believe it is plasma/kwin related.
I tried no compositor, or different options for the compositor, but it's all the same. I am not sure what else to try.
I have no issue playing anything with mpv though.

I was able to at least start a 3d game, which I didn't expect to be able... so really not sure what is going on.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install plasma 5.2
2. Run Kodi

Actual Results:
When I run kodi, from a konsole or from a launcher, it starts and then I have 2 equally bad options:
- either it seems to go full-screen, but then all I really see is my plasma desktop... I can move the mouse, but that's all. Nothing within plasma works anymore, and so far my only way out was restarting the plasma session
- the other option is similar but I see kodi in a window, in the top left corner and I cannot interact with it (it's frozen). The rest is the same.

Sometimes I get a window saying that kwin has crashed and maybe I wish to use a different window manager, but I have not tried. Looking at the processes, there seems to be a lot of kwin_x11 when this happens. I guess it crashed and reloaded a few times.

Expected Results:
Kodi should just run fine, the way it used to in KDE4 (or the way it still does in fluxbox)

The whole system is up to date with Arch Linux's [testing], (linux 3.18.4, xorg-server 1.16.3-2)
if that helps I am using the radeonsi driver with a 280x.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I've tried with Andrea Scarpino's new build using the patch from that other bug, but the behavior is the same.
(I've restarted my computer in case but to not avail)

same commit series, wrong commit and bug - try the other patch.
Comment 5 John E 2015-01-29 10:33:55 UTC
That bug seems more appropriate, I hope to be able to try this patch soon, but based on the other bug report I assume it should work.

Thank you!

That worked, thank you!
