I often need to compare two files that are probably identical but may not be. kdiff3 is extremely useful for this, except that after I click OK on the "files are binary equal" box, I have to wait another 30 seconds or more for the editor to open and then manually close it. It would save a lot of time if this behavior could be turned off; I think it should be off by default, but I could be failing to imagine some common use case. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Save file X for later. 2. Compare [file Y] with file X. 3. Files are binary equal. Actual Results: Editor opens. Expected Results: kdiff3 exits (after user acknowledges files are binary equal). I'm using kdiff3 version 0.9.96, which is apparently what we get in Kubuntu 12.04. I invoke it with the context menu in Dolphin.
Sounds like something a Option flag might be useful for.
