Description Dave Thompson 2015-01-16 13:14:17 UTC
At some points, when closing a window on the standard Plasma shell, the window will disappear but there will be a black rectangle where it was. Then, *all* windows will go black and as you drag them a path will be left.

The KMenu and the pager (sorry for not using the correct names) will go completely white, and there will be no text or any other icons on them. You can still click around, and the menu will switch panels and you can log out if you guess where the logout button is.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
It's really hard to reproduce, as it "just happens" when closing a window sometimes.

It's a relatively major issue; the desktop and whole of KDE becomes unusable when this occurs.

Contact me if you need me to provide any logs - happy to.
Comment 1 Martin Klapetek 2015-01-16 17:31:25 UTC
Can you try switching off compositing when that happens? Press alt+shift+f2 and see if that improves the situation.

Can you also provide some details about your hardware? Which graphics card and driver? Ideally run:

qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin org.kde.KWin.supportInformation > ~/info.log

and attach the info.log from your home folder here.

Does this still happen with Plasma 5.4 and Qt 5.5?
