I've recently done a clean install of Linux Mint 17 (back up, format, install 17, replace files and data) Tonight I noticed that what was /media/ (then 5 directories), e.g., /media/Documents could only be accessed as /media/doug/Documents. When trying different directory or file manipulations, I found i could, and did, rename /media/doug to /media/dougx. Then I discovered that if I asked Krusader to rename /media to /mediax it returns the message "Access denied to //mediax. Note the '//' and the use of 'mediax'. The files within the 5 directories seem to be intact and accessable, if I go through /media/doug. I did a check with Nemo 2.2.2 and find the directory name /media/dougx Reproducible: Always I don't know if this is a bug or what? I've submitted it here because it seems like the most likely place to understand Krusader and its ways. At this point I am afraid that any other use of Krusader might put my data entirely out of reach.
This doesn't really look Krusader-related. /media is the playce where devices like usb-sticks external harddrives get mounted - eg. /media/usbstick1. /media/Documents shouldn't really be there - did you create that directory ?
Created attachment 94939 [details] attachment-23652-0.html Yes, I did create the directory /Documents as a partition on an external usb drive. In the /media tree, every folder is (should be) a partition; you have a pendrive labeled (its partition) "doug" that contains a folder "Documents". /media/Documents means a partition labeled "Documents" not a contained folder. You can't rename /media folder because your user doesn't have write permission on / (as every non-root user). The //media oddity is known (that happens only in the / directory).
I agree with Jan Davide. There are no news here so I will close this .
