Description Arne Babenhauserheide 2015-01-07 21:03:51 UTC
I just answered an encrypted email. KMail asked me ”do you want to encrypt+sign or only sign”. I clicked “only sign”. This already hit me for the third time, now, and if it happened in the wrong moment, it could get someone into grave danger (spilling potentially sensitive private information with the quoted answer).

In the KMail preferences->security->send message, I ticked all boxes (for me the most important reads „Nachrichten möglichst automatisch verschlüsseln“ ← something like try to encrypt automatically whenever possible).

Wish: When answering to an encrypted message, KMail should automatically select “encrypt message”. And not ask me about that.

Reproducible: Always

This bug has never been confirmed for a KDE PIM version that is based on KDE Frameworks (5.x). Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the oportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it.

Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.

I still didn’t manage to get all of KDE 5 to build, so I cannot check that yet (I’ve been working for month to fix cruft which accumulated on my system, but I rarely have enough uninterrupted computer time to let large re-emerges finish).

I just tested this on KMail 5.7.1:

Press 'r' on an encrypted mail -> composer had "Encrypt" enabled
Press 'r' on an unencrypted mail -> composer had "Encrypt" disabled

Seems to be fixed
