On boot half the time plasma shell starts in the process but fails to load.. Issuing a "killall plasmashell" and a "plasmashell &" fixes the issue temporarily.. I see the git hash 61dfcac next to plasma-workspace We had a very similar sounding bug which was fixed in a commit (8de060418e2c13057a443eb0aa997844466330b9) which is newer than the one you have there.
