Description massivious 2014-12-08 16:00:02 UTC
New tabs always start in your $HOME directory, rather than same directory as current tab -- even after checking/unchecking box which appears to control this in 'general' section of your current profile labelled, "Start in same directory as current tab".

side note: feature would be especially useful since command history of new tabs is not inherited from current tab: thus you have to copy/paste or retype cd command in new tab.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open yakuake (starts in home directory)
2. cd to another directory
3. open new tab (starts in home directory instead of current directory)
4. change settings: 'manage profiles' -> 'edit profile' -> 'general tab' -> check/uncheck 'Start in same directory as current tab' -> save and exit
5. repeat steps 1 to 3. Same result.

Summary: Changing setting in step 4 has no effect.

Actual Results:
1. yakuake starts in home directory
2. changes to directory specified
3. new tab starts in home directory, instead of current directory
4. setting changed
5. setting change has no effect on initial directory of new tab

Expected Results:
1 - 4: same as above
5. new tab opens in same directory as current tab

Yakuake is the best general purpose terminal available. I have personally promoted it on tech review websites. Hope this is a simple fix for you. Thank you for awesome work.

My apologies for the duplicate bug report.
Note that when searching within the kde bug tracker:
"Step 1 of 3 - has your bug already been reported?"

"If your bug isn't there, search KDE Bugtracking System by entering a few key words having to do with your bug in this box. For example: pop3 mail or copy paste. The results will appear above."

Entering obvious key words (directory, tab, new tab) alone or in combination does not find bug 297222. Thus, I was under the impression that it had not yet been reported.

Thank you for your attention to this issue.

No worries :). Thank you for putting in the time & effort to write a very comprehensive report - far better than most we receive.
