Description Jason Oliver 2014-12-07 03:48:23 UTC
Laptop Brightness does not work. Cannot dim screen. Screen stays at max brightness with KDE 5.1 Kde framework 5.4

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.go to systemsettings
2.in systemsettings go to Powermanagement
3.Slide screen brightness level left or right and click apply. With me screen brightness does not adjust

Actual Results:
screen brightness does not change

Expected Results:
should dim or brighten depending on placement of level slider

Kde framework 5 is awesome keep up the good work.

Are you touching the correct slider? There's three of them (AC plugged in, battery mode, low battery), also make sure the checkbox next to it is checked.

Does changing brightness using the battery applet in system tray work?

I have similar problem with my laptop. I am currently using Kubuntu 15.04 (Plasma 5.3).
The brightness slider doesn't change the brightness. The key board shortcuts (ex: Fn + F5/F6) shows the brightness icon with slider moving but doesn't change the brightness on screen.

I am using the following temporary fix:

I write values (0-4822) in the file "/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness" to change the brightness.
