Description Alexander Potashev 2014-11-30 00:20:58 UTC
There are string collisions between libkimap.po and other parts of KDEPIM and for that reason I cannot make better translations for libkimap.po.

Example:
I would translate "Delete" in libkimap.po as "Folder deletion" because it will fit the message "%1 failed, server replied: %2" (%1 = "Folder deletion"), but if I actually do so then the same translation can be see in the message composer's context menu (there is an action named "Delete" to delete the selected text).

How to fix:
Add contexts (e.g. "IMAP request") for most of the strings in libkimap.po.

I hope the KF5-based version KDEPIM does not have this bug because there are translation domains in KI18n, but can't say for sure because I didn't test it.

Reproducible: Always

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kdepim (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
