So often, when I clicked on the magnet links from torrent sites... It will either not opening the download information in Ktorrent, or it will... but DAYS later. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit The Pirate Bay. 2. Click on the magnet link. 3. Ktorrent will not respond to it. Or it will respond, days after you click on the magnet link. Actual Results: Nothing happened. Ktorrent running as usual. Sometimes I closed it and open it back, and if I am lucky, it will open the magnet link. The luck seldom comes. :( Expected Results: Automatically open the magnet link that I clicked from web browser.
This is the bug ive encountered, it was discussed here: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/504004-ktorrent-magnet-link-issue?p=2686856#post2686856 The consensus was some magnet links have a tracker in them, these work with ktorrent, other magnet links dont come with a tracker, ktorrent will not work with these (or will work extremely slowly!). Other torrent clients are fine with both types of magnet links. As a workaround I installed qbittorrent, hopefully this gets looked at and fixed.
Magent links without a tracker will need to use DHT to find seeds or other peers for your torrent. This is why a tracker based approach is often better which are included in .torrent files. MMM can you please retest and confirm this is still an issue with the latest ktorrent?
