Konqueror has the option to enable "Automatic spellchecking" like other KDE applications. I assume that this feature means that words in Web forms such as Input fields or textareas are spellchecked instantly and typos are underlined with a red line or otherwise marked. However, in my case (KDE 4.14.3 on Gentoo) this does not work, even though the automatic spellchecking is enabled both in KDE global options as well as in Konqueror options. Typos in textareas on websites like this are not highlighted. On the other hand, using the context menu (right mouse button) on a text field allowes to initiate the manual spellcheck in Konqueror. Also, the automatic spellchecking works fine in other KDE applications like Kmail or Kwrite and misspelled words are underlined in red instantly in those applications. I will attach screenshots. Reproducible: Always

I figured out that this behaviour is related to the Webkit engine. When configuring Konqueror to use the KHTML engine, the automatic spellcheck with underlining of typos works as expected. I have the following Webkit-related packages installed: dev-qt/qtwebkit-4.8.5 kde-misc/kwebkitpart-1.3.4 net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.4.4-r1 net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.4.4-r201
I think this has been superseded by qtwebengine, where the bug still exists.
