In gnome platform, when update prices there is a window popping "Update Stock and Currency prices is not responding" and offer "Quit" or "Wait". However the update is actually working fine. Understand it happens with other apps running in Gnome. e.g. https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-shell-list/2014-May/msg00033.html Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install in Gnome platform 2. Start Kmymoney and update prices and currency Actual Results: 1. Window pops up "update prices and currency not responding" 2. Update actually completes successfully taking its normal time frame. Expected Results: 1. Update completes successfully taking its normal time frame (i.e. without warning window). What method do you use to update the stock prices? Is it Yahoo or a similar web page, or finance::quote? That would help us pinpoint where the problem is
This sounds very much like something discussed on the mailing list 07 December 13, with an update by the OP 24 October 14, including reference to https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-shell-list/2014-May/msg00033.html. The underlying issues appears to be that some part of Gnome is checking if KMM is still alive, and KMM is not replying. I don't know if this can be done in a way independent of specific Desktop Environment or Window Manager.
Am using Yahoo to update prices. Yes I am the same person starting the mailing list thread.
I can reproduce this problem on Windows (the unresponsiveness of the dialog while performing the web request) so there is no need to add additional information to this report.
Upgraded to Gnome 3.14 (Fedora 21) from Gnome 3.10 (Fedora 20). It appears that the problem does not happen anymore.
