I just loaded the Kubuntu 14.10 Tech Preview with Plasma 5 and installed it on a VirtualBox. It runs KDE 5.3.0. Then I installed Synaptic, but I can't launch it from the K-Menu. When I try to launch it a "Sorry" window opens that says: KDEInit can't start "": library "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkdeinit5_" can't be opened Cannot load library /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkdeinit5_: (/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkdeinit5_.so: Can't open shared object: File or directory not found) This is translated from German, I hope you understand it. This shouldn't be a problem with Synaptic itself, since I can launch it from the command line. Of course there is no libkdeinit5_.so file, just libkdeinit5_kaccess.so, libkdeinit5_kcminit.so etc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open K-Menu 2. Search for Synaptic 3. Click it Actual Results: Gave an error Expected Results: launched Synaptic
This happens to me also, Ubuntu 14.10, upgraded from 14.04, not only in synaptic but also other gtk software
