Description Sudhir Khanger 2014-10-11 18:26:41 UTC
1. Currently KMail quick search window only searches the folder you are in. This isn't the most convenient way to search if you have 20 folders. KMail should search across all folders.
2. Search should include gmail style tags like in:mailinglist or has:attachment or filename:(jpg OR jpeg OR png)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Search anything.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Searches only the folder you are in.

Expected Results:
Search all folders. Include tag for efficient querying.

If I understand it correctly, this is actually a feature request to change the behaviour of the quicksearch field. This field is meant for filtering, and filtering in KDE always applies to the current view only. For more powerful searches, you can use Tools -> Find Messages (or its default shortcut "S").

Denis Kurz. I am on a new machine which doesn't have kmail yet but can Find Messages search across folders?
Comment 3 Denis Kurz 2017-01-13 17:35:27 UTC
Yes. It has three modes: All folders, one specified folder (optionally with all its subfolders), or an arbitrary selection of folders.
