The Print Screen item from the File menu is translated to "Faire une copie d'écran" in French. While "Print Screen" does generally translate to "Faire une copie d'écran", it does not in this rare case, where "Print Screen" is used literally (the screen's contents are sent to a printer). "Faire une copie d'écran" literally means "Make a screen copy" (take a screenshot), which is not what the item does. An appropriate translation would certainly contain "Imprimer", but the precise formulation is non-trivial. The obvious "Imprimer l'écran" (literal translation of "Print Screen") might have been a fair name a few decades ago, but sounds quite barbarian in a windowed environment. If Konsole is not full-screen, you're not really printing the screen's contents. A better definition of what you're printing would be the console, hence "Imprimer la console...". But when you think about it, it's quite obvious that Konsole's printing feature will print the console's contents, so this could be just "Imprimer...". However, there's one problem with these 2 suggestions : they suggest you'll print the full scrollback, when in reality you only get what's currently displayed. I therefore suggest either: A very precise "Imprimer le contenu visible de la console..." Revisiting what the feature does. Why wouldn't Konsole do like all applications and at least offer printing the full contents rather than just the current page? In fact, looking at the feature more closely, it looks like it's designed to do that, but isn't working properly. Note that version 4.14 is missing from the field.
> Revisiting what the feature does. Why wouldn't Konsole [...] Please report this to Konsole developers separately. They do not read translation bugs.
I am fine with the first option. If anyone feels the second should be chosen, feel free to report a new ticket and block this one or to perform the change the change directly.
It's an old translation issue, konsole's behavior hasn't changed and the screen is indeed sent to the printer and not the clipboard. Let's keep it simple with "Imprimer l'écran" which should be understandable given the context. https://phabricator.kde.org/R883:1517162
