Description Franky 2014-09-10 18:35:48 UTC
If i add a new event and choose a reminder kontact shows other strings as korganizer does. Mostly i choose a reminder "5 Days before event starts". Result is:

kontact/german: "1 Tag vor Beginn" (even if choose 5 Days before it shows allways "1 Tag")
kontact/english: "5 days before the start" (correct)

If i start korganizer withoput kontact, it shows allways the correct entry
korganizer/german: "5 Tage vor dem Beginn"
korganizer/english: "5 days before the start"

How could this happen?

Kubuntu 14.04 with backports

$ kontact --version
Qt: 4.8.6
KDE: 4.14.0
Kontact: 4.14

Using an event with a reminder "5 Days before event starts" I see this in the tooltip of the event:

KDE_LANG=en_US kontact: "5 days before the start" (correct)

KDE_LANG=de kontact: "1 Tag vor dem Beginnt" (wrong)

KDE_LANG=fr kontact: "1 your avant le début" (wrong)

KDE_LANG=en_GB kontact: "1 day before the start" (wrong)

This seems to be an error in any language != en_US, therefore reassigning to product Kontact

Burkhard, have you test it with korginzer as standalone-application? There it shows the correct text to me in German language. That is the confusion...

Forgotten:
$ kontact --version
Qt: 4.8.6
KDE: 4.14.0
Kontact: 4.14

korganizer-version is the same.

The displayed tooltip info is correct in korganizer in locale de, en_US, en_GB, and fr

The wrong text is not only in the tooltip, it appears also in the sidebar.

Thanks for confirming and reassigning to kontact :-)
Comment 5 Allen Winter 2015-09-11 23:07:15 UTC
does this still happen with recent versions?
if so, it would be a problem loading the kcalcore or maybe the kcalutils dictionaries
Comment 6 Burkhard Lück 2015-09-15 09:17:04 UTC
Happens for me still with
VM with Kubuntu 15.04
Kontact 4.14.6
KOrganizer 4.14.6

LANGUAGE=en_US kontact: "5 days before the start" (correct)
LANGUAGE=de kontact: "1 Tag vor dem Beginn" (wrong)

LANGUAGE=de korganizer: "5 Tage vor dem Beginn" (correct)
LANGUAGE=en_US korganizer: "5 days before the start" (correct)

This bug has never been confirmed for a Kontact version that is based on KDE Frameworks, except possibly a Technology Preview version 5.0.x. Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the opportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it.

Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.
Comment 8 Denis Kurz 2018-02-01 09:46:20 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.1 aka 15.12; preferably much more recent), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
