Expected Results: Uniform dark theme without white strip between the theme of applications and the dark theme breeze. using KDE 5 Plasma 2 on virtual box with installation on Kubuntu 14.04

to me this looks like intended in the Breeze theme - reassigning to Breeze therefore.
This problem does not occur with Firefox. Archlinux, breeze 5.1.0, plasma-desktop 5.1.0.
I can confirm I have this behavior too.
This can be fixed setting the titleBarSpacer height to 0. I'm not sure it's a bug, it comes down to personal preference. To remove the space edit this file: /usr/share/kwin/decorations/kwin4_decoration_qml_breeze/contents/ui/main.qml at line 276. The path could be different on your system. I'm not including a patch since the repo switched to kdecoration.
