Description Przemek 2014-09-09 15:08:22 UTC
This is my first bug report so sorry if I chose wrong product name.
I'm sure that this bug was on kde 4.13.x because I made update to kde 4.14 recently.

Kde always after system boot doesn't start up completely, which means not every icons in system tray are up, I can't run any program. If I want to make system reset using ctrl+alt+delete window no pop up but window will pop up if I run it from menu. Sometimes kde may totally freze and I can't click anything.
To solve this I always have to make x reset using ctrl+alt+backspace after boot than everything works fine.

To solve this completely I tried to remove all config files:
.cache
.config
.kde
.local
but nothing has change.

My linux is opensuse 13.1
Linux linux-yrsj.site 3.16.1-8.g2ab6585-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 3 14:16:22 UTC 2014 (2ab6585) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

My kde is from this repo:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Current/openSUSE_13.1/
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/KDE_Current_openSUSE_13.1/

Reproducible: Always

Did you also try removing .kde4 ? Instead of removing random configuration files, you should use yast2 and create an additional user account to test the default configuration.

(In reply to Christoph Feck from comment #1)
I thought I will need a few days to test but I'm won't.
Just after I post my bug I noticed that in bugtacker are already similar to my for example bug 338107 so I think it's duplicate.

I think so.

Sorry, I hadn't thought about it earlier. I done this today and looked at this a bit closer. This look like a big lag. Sometimes something starts up quickly, and sometimes not. For example I had to wait for log out about 20-30sec (btw. on ssd).
Like I said before everything works fine only after ctrl+alt+backspace.

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!

Hi Andrew,

WoW, it has been 4 years already;D

I haven't experienced this error for a long time. Currently I'm using kde5

cat /usr/lib/os-release
NAME="openSUSE Tumbleweed"
# VERSION="20181012"
ID="opensuse-tumbleweed"
ID_LIKE="opensuse suse"
VERSION_ID="20181012"
PRETTY_NAME="openSUSE Tumbleweed"
ANSI_COLOR="0;32"
CPE_NAME="cpe:/o:opensuse:tumbleweed:20181012"
BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.opensuse.org"
HOME_URL="https://www.opensuse.org/"

plasmashell -v
plasmashell 5.14.0

kf5-config -v
Qt: 5.11.2
KDE Frameworks: 5.50.0
kf5-config: 1.0

Probably you expect from me to test it on kde4, right? Because of the age of the bug maybe it would be better to close it? And if someone else will have similar problem then create a new bug report?

Regards

No response; assuming it was fixed since then.
