Description Gunter Ohrner 2014-08-28 13:40:28 UTC
I'm using KDE 4.14 and kMail 2, accessing an Akonadi IMAP resource. (Not Disconnected IMAP, just regular IMAP.)

Fulltext indexing is activated for all folders as far as I can tell. Still, folder properties -> maintenance shows that for virtually all folders, only a subset of mails has been indexed. My inbox, for example, contains 152 mails, only 21 of which have been indexed. (And most mails sitting in my inbox are serveral weeks old or even older.)

How can I change this, this way searching for mails won't really work...

This issue is still current as of KDE 4.14.2 / kMail Version 4.14.2.

"Sent mail" currently has 2135 mails indexed out of a total of exactly 35000...

Inbox currently lists 150 of 156 mails as indexed, which sounds good, still entering words into kMails search bar which appear in the bodies of several eMail in Inbox yield no results. Only apperances in subject lines or other header fields are found.

This problem also in kmail 4.14.5, using dovecot IMAP account, however deleteing imap account and then adding the account again seems to fix the problem - all emails indexed, searching works. So it seems to be a nepomuk -> baloo conversion problem.

Thank you for reporting this bug in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version?

If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "CONFIRMED" when replying. Thank you!

Due to too many bugs in kMail some years ago I stopped using it and switched to
Thunderbird. I was not happy to have to make that choice, but since then at
least I didn't lose access to my mails any more because some maintenance update
does not work at all - as it happened more than once with kMail unfortunately.
:-(

So I cannot re-test.
