Would be great if you allow the krunner wisget to be moved from the top screen edge.

Did you try Config wrench > User Interface tab > Position?

If I click the Config wrench it only shows a list of checkboxes about what to search. There are no tabs or other config options. I'm I missing something here? Screenshot: http://i62.tinypic.com/10s9m9t.jpg

No you did not, I missed that you are reporting this for the Plasma 5 version, which seems to not have this option.
