The cashew icon was shown all the time. this is the only symbol you can't remove from the desktop. You can remove every plasmoid, the panel, everything.

is it possible to move the cashew into a plasmoid so that the user have the option to remove the cashew plasmoid.

you get the same functionallity by right mouse click on the desktop.

when you move the cashew into a plasmoid, then the standard user have the information that you can edit the desktop with this icon and the user how are thinking that the cashew icon doesn't fit into the desktop can remove it. there is als the edit symbol in the panel.

The cashew needs to have an option to make it disappear for ever.. I have had to deal with it during all the years with KDE4, and now even with KDE5 I still have some annoying thing permanently and irrevocably affixed to all of my background wallpapers.. Whose decision is it to close all of the cashew bugs as "won't fix"??.. There are tons of pages that you can find on the internet about people complaining about it.. It is a ridiculous premise that because some where some one out that won't be able to figure out how to access the context menu options with out a constant visual reminder so therefore EVERY ONE including me has to stare at that cashew tab for eternity is ridiculous.. I'm sorry if some lost user out there can't figure out how to right-click their mouse on the desktop to display the context menu.. That shouldn't be my problem..

Why can't you just add an advanced option some where for advanced users to turn off the cashew so people can have an advanced desktop instead of one made for grandparents who just switched from windows and is trying linux for the first time?.. Or is that too advanced for you?..

I don't feel like the majority's option is being reflected the decision to make the cashew mandatory.. I would love to have a vote and see just how many users actually want that thing on their desktop wallpaper 100% of the time.. KDE has always been about options.. Gnome has always been the one to force decisions on their users, not KDE..

You guys need to listen to your users and actually fix this bug.. Saying that you will never fix it, and that it will still be there even in KDE 99 in the year 3001 is just forcing your ideolgy on to lots of users who don't want the exact same desktop that you do..

Furthermore, it is the type of fix that would take like 0.1 seconds to implement.. A simple on/off option some where.. Instead, people have had to make hackish scripts and stuff for KDE4 to try to remove that think.. Eventually KDE changed its code to render most all of those scripts useless so that not even script-makers can remove the cashew any more..

Of course the cashew isn't huge, but that isn't the point.. Hypothetically, if KDE had some bug that caused one of the pixels on the screen to constantly be white, wouldn't that be fixed eventually?.. Would the KDE programmers really just say "Its not that big of a deal, just 1 tiny white pixel, so we won't fix it.".......Would that not be ridiculous to not fix such a glaring bug, even though it is just 1 tiny white pixel?.. That is what the cashew is like.. Only it is many pixels, not just 1.. It is a group of pixels on your desktop that permanently remain that way no matter what, and you can do nothing to change it.. If you put up a pretty wallpaper, sorry, you will never be able to see that corner of ANY wallpaper you put up, because the cashew needs that space permanently, just in the rare occasion that some user some where in the world might be using KDE for the first time and has no idea how to push the right mouse button on their desktop..

I hearby officially rename KDE: Kashew Desktop Environment.. At least until you reopen this bug and fix it.. I'm waiting..
